Fees in advance

The objective of the Fees in Advance Scheme is to provide a method where the cost of independent education can be reduced by making a lump sum Advance Payment. Participants in the scheme cap the future increases by ‘locking in’ a fixed 3% per annum uplift to future years, based on the most recently published rate at the date of the Advance Payment.

Terms & conditions

These terms and conditions (the “FIA Terms and Conditions”) are supplemental to the School’s standard terms and conditions that the parents/guardians agreed when accepting a place for the pupil concerned (“the Parent Contract”). The FIA Terms and Conditions form part of the Parent Contract and, therefore, the contractual relationship between the parents/guardians and the School.  The terms and conditions of the Parent Contract shall continue to bind the parents/guardians in full.

  1. All payments made in accordance with the Scheme form part of the general funds of the School and may be used for such purposes as the Directors of the School may from time-to-time direct.
  2. Supplemental charges and other extras and expenses remain payable as detailed on the termly fee invoice and in accordance with the terms of the Parent Contract.
  3. The School must in all cases receive payment before the first day of the first term to be covered by the Advance Payment.
  4. An Advance Payment will only be accepted in respect of those children for whom a registration fee and deposit have been paid and an offer of a place accepted.
  5. The payment of an Advance Payment does not in itself guarantee a child a place in the School, nor does it in any way alter the terms of, or requirements for, entry to the School or entitle the child to preferential treatment.
  6. If whilst in attendance at the school the child is awarded a scholarship with a financial benefit, any amount overpaid on fees will be held on account and used towards payment of additional charges.
  7. In the event of a corporate reorganisation and/or a merger or change of ownership the benefit and burden of this agreement may be freely assigned to another party at the discretion of the School.
  8. This agreement is made on the basis of prevailing VAT legislation which treats school fees as exempt from VAT and recognises that an upfront payment of fees will crystallise the tax point. In the event of a change of legislation during the period of this agreement which results in HMRC assessing that VAT is due on all or part of the prepaid amount, the VAT would be payable by the parents as it becomes due.
  9. Subject to the terms of the Parent Contract (including in particular those terms relating to the withdrawal of a child on notice), if a child leaves the School for any reason prior to the commencement of the last term covered by this Scheme, and unless otherwise agreed the unused proportion of the payment made under the Scheme will be refunded (less any amounts owed to the School at the time of the refund, including any fees payable in lieu of notice) to the parents/guardians. Such refunds will be made subject to a term’s notice of the refund being requested. In the event that the School is unable to issue the refund, Wishford Schools (Group) Limited shall assume the liability and make the refund on the School’s behalf.
  10. If the child is admitted to another fee paying school, the payment into the Scheme may, at the parents’/guardians’ express written request, be used by the School to make payments by instalment (pro-rated accordingly to take account of any amounts owing to the School under the Parent Contract, including fees in lieu of notice) towards the fees of that other school as and when due.  This must be at the express written request of the parents/guardians and is at the School’s complete discretion, but is normally a better alternative to repayment of the original sum.
  11. The balance of single sum payments can be transferred between pupils at the School who are siblings without restriction.
  12. The school will require confirmation of the source of funds for lump sum payments in order to satisfy anti-money laundering legislation.
