Early Years Practitioner
High March School are seeking an Early Years Practitioner who has a Level 3 Qualification in Early Years Education, and has experience in a Nursery, and/or lower Prep Classes.
Whilst this post is for a Nursery class, we do ask our Early Years Practitioners to be flexible, working across different age groups, from 3-7 year olds, supporting teachers where necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Using play to help children learn and develop, promoting independence, challenge and self-reliance
- Ensuring children are safe and nurtured
- Setting up and running nursery sessions, including breaktime and lunch duties
- Supporting the aims and ethos of the school
Teaching Assistants report to the Class Teacher, Deputy Heads, and the Headmistress.
Salary & Benefits:
Hours: Fixed term position for Spring and Summer Term 2025. 8am – 5:00pm or 8:30am – 5:30pm, Monday – Friday, term time only. There is an option for part time hours, where suitable for candidate and school/role.
This role is an annualised contract.
Salary: £23,210 – £25,480 pa

Main Responsibilities:
- Supporting the aims and ethos of the school
- Using play to help children learn and develop, promoting independence, challenge and self-reliance
- Ensuring children are safe and nurtured
- Setting up and running nursery sessions, including breaktime and lunch duties
- Planning, set up and supervise activities, making observations and assessments for children’s online learning journals both inside and outdoors
- Working closely with staff to feedback on children’s development and achievements, being a proactive and flexible member of the team
- Supporting class teachers in administrative duties as required
- Assisting in mounting displays of the pupils’ work
- Supervising pupils on outings and visits as required
- Ensuring all children are fed and hydrated
- Promoting and supporting the safeguarding of children and young people in the workplace
- Working alongside parents/carers of special needs children to provide details of progress
- Cleaning and changing children when necessary
- Participating in team meetings and INSET training as requested
- Treating all information relating to a pupil as strictly confidential, being aware of and complying with school policy and practice
- Performing other duties that the Head considers reasonable, that are commensurate with the post
Person Specification:
Qualifications and experience required:
- Early Years Education Level 3 or higher
- Good knowledge of EYFS framework
- Evidence of being an excellent practitioner and showing a passion for early years education
- Strong commitment to maintaining high professional standards
Other skills required:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
- Ability to monitor, evaluate and review
