Part Time Site Assistant

OVERVIEW

We are seeking to appoint an energetic and enthusiastic Site Assistant to join a supportive, caring, and professional team. The successful candidate will have some experience of, or ability to learn about, taking care of buildings and grounds and basic maintenance, and DIY, and will assist the Site Manager.

Hours, Salary & Benefits:

Hours: This is a part-time position, with hours and holidays to be mutually agreed.

Salary: Competitive salary available dependent on experience and qualifications

The post holder reports to the Site Manager and is ultimately responsible to the Head and the School Business Manager.

To assist the Site Manager with the regular maintenance of all aspects of the school premises and other general duties.

Main Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Locking and/ or unlocking the school as arranged.
  • Checking for damage or other security concerns throughout the day.
  • Upkeep and general care of the school.
  • Ensure that rubbish is stored appropriately.
  • Replenishment of toilet stock.
  • General maintenance and minor repair work as directed.
  • General porterage duties and moving of furniture.
  • Assisting teaching staff with appropriate tasks as requested.
  • Setting up and clearing the hall for lunch and functions/events.
  • Receiving, checking and storage of deliveries.
  • Ensure that fire escape routes are kept clear.
  • Assist Site Manager to complete weekly compliance checks including the fire alarm.
  • Keep all hard surfaces free of ice to ensure they are safe.
  • Ensure that all lights, heating and electrical sockets are working effectively.
  • Monitoring and setting of heating controls and boilers.
  • Be aware of the location of all stopcocks, gas and electricity meters.
  • Any other reasonable tasks required by the Headteacher, School Business Manager or Site Manager.

Person Specification

  • Literacy and numeracy skills
  • Experience in taking care of buildings/premises (desirable but not essential)
  • DIY and maintenance skills (desirable)
  • Use of cleaning equipment (desirable)
