Laundry Assistant

OVERVIEW

Working within the Housekeeping Department the Laundry Assistant will provide a full Laundry Service to the Boarding Community at Westonbirt School using a fully operational commercial laundry facility.

This role requires providing a collection and delivery service to a multi-site boarding school in a vehicle provided by the school, the post holder will be required to drive on a daily basis to provide this service.

Hours, Salary & Benefits:

Hours: Permanent role. Full Time, 5 days out of 7 but will include Saturdays and Sundays, Year-Round. Working hours can be flexible. 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £12.60 ph / £24,570 pa

Job Description:

  • Ensure the laundry of pupils clothing is to the highest standard, including ironing.
  • Ensure the laundry is collected and returned to the correct areas of the boarding school on a regular and scheduled basis, and the clothing of pupils is returned to the designated area in a neat and tidy manner.
  • Be sensitive to the needs of the pupils and to communicate any issues with the appropriate house parent
  • Comply with COSHH regulations
  • Ensure the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment
  • Maintain standards of infection control within the laundry area.
  • Ensure that the laundry equipment is correctly and safely used and kept in a safe condition, reporting any defect to the Housekeeping Manager or Site Manager.

Person Specification:

  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Flexible, reliable and self-motivated
  • The ability to communicate well with others
  • The basic knowledge of COSHH
  • An understanding of infection control

An enhanced DBS disclosure and references will be required for this post.
