With over a third of students achieving A* grades, pupils at Westonbirt School are celebrating their strongest ever A* results at A level and BTEC this year. This outstanding set of grades is even stronger than last year’s record-breaking A* results.
Deputy Head Academic, Simon Balderson, says of the achievement:
“This is testament to the hard work and dedication of this year group and to the staff who have supported them through the huge disruption of a pandemic.
We shouldn’t forget that this year group have never sat external exams. To have produced such outstanding results, especially in comparison to the last two years, is an immense achievement and one of which they should be very proud.”
In a year that also marks the first cohort of boys receiving A level and BTEC results at Westonbirt, an incredible 97% of students have achieved A*-C grades. Particularly standout results come from Chemistry, Art, Maths and Business Studies.
Headmistress, Natasha Dangerfield, says;
“We are immensely proud of these students who are moving on to study a broad range of subjects at university including Law, Fine Art, Business, Psychology and Artificial Intelligence.
As a school that works hard to prepare pupils to compete in the future world of work, it is no surprise that degree-level apprenticeships are now becoming a clear alternative to the traditional university route for some of our students.”
