Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher to join our vibrant school community and our supportive, caring and professional team.

This is a dynamic role for a passionate educator with experience in the classroom across a range of primary age groups. Applications from candidates with EYFS and Pre-Prep experience will be particularly welcomed.

The successful candidate will be a qualified teacher and will deliver inspirational lessons and contribute to our diverse extra-curricular provision.

Heywood Prep is committed to the development of ECT’s and would particularly welcome applications from NQTs. We have a robust mentoring system through the ISTIP program and experienced mentors within the staff body.

Hours, Salary & Benefits:

Contract: Full-time, permanent contract.

Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience.

Start Date: September 2026

Job Description

  • To act as a full-time form tutor, ensuring the children’s academic and pastoral needs are well catered for.
  • Support pupils’ academic, pastoral, and social development, encouraging independence and self-esteem.
  • To have a thorough knowledge of the national curriculum.
  • Plan stimulating lessons, prepare resources and mark and provide feedback in-line with school policies.
  • Assess and record pupils’ progress; provide or contribute to oral and written assessments, reports, and references.
  • Share the supervision of pupils during breaks, lunchtimes, outings, and visits.
  • Participate in meetings, training, and INSET sessions.
  • Uphold school policies, confidentiality, and safeguarding practices.
  • A full Paediatric First Aid qualification is desired but training can be provided.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties as directed by the Head.

Person Specification:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • Confidence in leading lessons, planning resources, and classroom organisation.
  • Ability to teach effectively, promoting positive behaviour and engagement.
  • Organised, reliable, and able to use initiative when required.
  • Enthusiastic, approachable, and supportive with a genuine commitment to pupils’ development.
  • Flexible and adaptable, willing to take on a range of duties as required.
  • Commitment to teamwork and contributing positively to school life.
  • Respect for confidentiality and commitment to upholding school policies and safeguarding practices.
